About Us
Liberal Democrats Party (LDP) is a new party that was formed early in 2023 by a leading conservationist, who together with other like-minded persons would like to provide a political platform to allow Zambians to express their views on the governance of the country by ensuring that the people who reside in the areas with abundant natural resources are involved in the decision-making processes and that they are can derive direct benefits. It is a party founded on strong principles of good environmental protection and governance, that seek to promote participatory inclusiveness and empowerment. It will advocate for laws, legislations, and policies that reconcile the interests of people and nature. It will advocate for the robust Rural Development Program through systems of good environmental governance. The party shall govern itself as Liberal Democrats.

Legal Status of the Party
The Party was formally established on 1st April 2023 and legally registered with the Registrar of Societies on 10th August 2023 in Lusaka Zambia.
Preamble
We the members of the Liberal Democrats Party (LDP), having realized the need to mobilize the Zambian people to actively participate in the national reconstruction of our mother country for the betterment of the citizens of Zambia and those who live within the jurisdiction, to offer them the government they own. We promise to govern the country’s affairs through democratic means where minority voices shall be heard and become central to the decision-making processes. We proclaim the name of God as our Creator, and that we shall govern according to the Christian values as enshrined in our country’s constitution. We shall place man at the center of all development. We know that for years, the government has been centralized, and it is our desire to devolve our mandate to the village-level structures with the appropriate authority to govern the affairs of the people at that level. We pledge to run a lean, cost-effective government that reflects the nation’s best interest.
We are resolved to govern ourselves, in the best possible way we can. We believe that Zambia as a country belongs to its people who are citizens and those who live in it.
OUR FOUNDING PRINCIPLES
The party is founded on the principles of genuine devolution of state functions to the lowest level of governance, the Village Development Council. We PROMISE to uphold the constitution of the party, the national constitution, allowing divergent opinions as independent voices, which consider the minority voices and promote of rule of law. Everything we do shall be in the interest of the humans, citizens of Zambia, and those who live in it and balance the relationship between people and nature. We believe that humans have contributed to threats to the environment leading to climate change, and we will make our government and decisions environmentally friendly. We shall rule as Environmental democrats. The Party shall ensure the effective management of the government and service provisions. We shall ensure that those who serve in our government subscribe to our common vision of a devolved governance that reconciles the need of the people and the environment they live in.
